The Leaves of Autumn

Sunday 17 September 2006

Posted by cccnnn

It's been a while since I've made a post, so you know that we have some major news to announce.

Before I get to our latest release of Sidooh, I regret to inform all of you that a valuable member of the Yanime team will be leaving us. Da Mighty Plum has decided that his tenure at Yanime is at an end, and is moving on to other pursuits in scanslation. We at Yanime will dearly miss the tremendous skill and experience that Plum brought to the table, and although we are deeply saddened by Plum's departure, we hope him all the best in his future endeavours.

With Plum gone, the large void left in our editing capacities needs to be addressed. As such, SneakerPimp will take the position left by Plum as Yanime's editor-in-chief. He will require editing help, and has requested that all those interested in editing for Yanime send him a private message in our IRC channel (#yanime @ irc.irchighway.net).

With that, here's the long awaited first chapter of Sidooh volume 2!

Mai HiME Manga Licensed

Monday 27 February 2006

Posted by da_MiGHTy_pLUm

I'll keep this short and sweet. Yes, that's right. Mai HiME has been licensed by Tokyopop, so we will be dropping this series.

Website Updates

Tuesday 07 February 2006

Posted by Motoko-chan

I just made a few site updates. Project statuses have been updated. We have officially dropped Yuuto due to lack of staff and interest. Curry and Siddoh are now marked stalled because of our translator shortage. Want new chapters of those titles? Find some people to translate for us.

Also, Ichigo 100% Volume 18 is now up for web download. You can find the link its project page (click the volume name in the listing).

Comments are enabled for right now, to give you a chance to talk. The minute I see idiots posting in here, the comment feature gets turned off.

New Poll - Video Progress

Monday 12 December 2005

Posted by Motoko-chan

Well, we are working on the Ichigo 100% OVA set of videos and I'm interested in what video format you want. Both formats will be hard-subbed (to prevent people from stealing the scripts), so don't vote based on that.

Calling for Translators

Monday 05 December 2005

Posted by Motoko-chan

So, we have been asked lately why our releases are so slow. Well, it would be because of a lack of scripts for our projects.

What we need are more translators. If you can translate from Japanese to English and are fairly decent in both languages, we would really like you to help us. If you can read Kanji without Furigana, we need your help even more.

To apply for a translator position, join #y-staffing on irchighway or e-mail our staffing e-mail box (Details in the Join Us section of the site).

Note: We can also use editors, proofreaders, and QC people.

Do NOT post offers of help in the comments, please use one of the contact methods above. Feel free to ask questions though.

I heard it said you had come back from the dead

Tuesday 08 November 2005

Posted by CGoten

Plum has brought it to my attention that Gintama has been licensed by Viz. I guess that means we’re dropping it, although it’s not like progress was being made lately anyway. I hate to admit it, but it’s undeniable that I’ve lost my interest in scanslation and pretty much manga in general. Looking at the frequency of releases lately, I don’t think that’s too hard to see. It took me practically a month to finish Sidooh chapter 2, and we released that ages ago now. Since then I haven’t so much as touched a single chapter and I think it’s pretty safe to say I don’t intend to do so any time in the near future. I guess I’m basically announcing my retirement from scanslation, but I really hope the group can and will go on.

We could really use new translators, ones who are genuinely interested in translating and translating often. If you think you’re interested and talented enough, talk to Plum or perhaps cccnnn on IRC. If you don’t have IRC, leave a comment on this post and maybe they can work something out with you.

I really hope that someone will step in and start getting the group to release more often again, whether it be Plum or cccnnn or Motoko or someone else altogether. Don’t get me wrong, we’ll definitely still have some Ichigo 100%, Mai-HiME and Gakuen Heaven among other things to release, but I’d really like it if we could get back to the efficiency - and more importantly, the love for translating - that we used to have.

I guess what I’m saying is, I’m leaving the group in everyone else’s hands and I hope they can work out something great. If you’re interested in helping out and have a serious motivation to get work done, don’t hesitate to talk to one of us. Maybe once I have more time and/or motivation I’ll come back to editing, but for now I’ll just be around the IRC channel not doing much of anything. Thanks for all the support over the past few years, and hopefully the group will thrive without me.

Comments on the Stories

Friday 15 July 2005

Posted by Motoko-chan

I was hoping I could avoid having to write this, I was hoping instead that people could remain civil. Unfortunately, because of the comments on the last post, I have this to say.

The comments are offered as a place for people to talk about the story itself, not for anything else.

Do not ask how a different project is going, do not ask for release dates. Those comments will be deleted. Mostly, do not abuse the staff. If I see anything close to what happened with the comments to the previous article I will ban your IP from the news posts and the forums.

Feel free to comment on this, but do remember what I put above.

Torrents A'Plenty

Monday 11 July 2005

Posted by CGoten

I've added torrents for Mai-HiME volumes 1-3, Gintama volumes 1-2 and Gakuen Heaven volume 1. Grab them, seed them, read them.

Addicted to Curry volume 1-3 Torrent

Tuesday 05 July 2005

Posted by CGoten

I'm gonna try to keep things to either 1 volume or 5 volumes per torrent, but I figured it'd be appropriate to make a v1-3 torrent for Curry, so I did.

In other news, Mai-HiME ended this week with 44 chapters, so that means we've got 2 more volumes to translate and then we're done with the series. Maybe we're finally going to actually complete a project!?

Edit: School Rumble volumes 1-5 are up too.

Ichigo 100% v1-5 Torrent

Sunday 03 July 2005

Posted by CGoten

Just wanted to mention that the first 5 volumes of Ichigo 100% are on our tracker now... I'll add more series later, but I probably won't keep making updates here because that'd end up flooding the news... So just keep checking the Bit Torrent tracker often if there's something you want.

Download Archives are Alive

Wednesday 29 June 2005

Posted by CGoten

HTTP downloads are back, courtesy of ero-jiji.

Edit: Uhhh.... I think they're down again. Just try your luck and see what happens, but don't be surprised if they're down.

Edit Again: Ok, now it's back up at a new location, thanks to ero-jiji again. The only catch here is that it's limited to 200 connections. So if the download isn't working, you'll have to try again in a few minutes.

Edit AGAIN: I guess it's down for maintainance now, so it probably won't work at all at the moment. Seeing as how I've edited this post 3 times now, I think things will be a lot better once I get everything up on Bit Torrent, heh. I'll begin putting up torrents in the coming week...

Another New Poll

Tuesday 28 June 2005

Posted by CGoten

Since we always seem to have difficulty keeping a reliable HTTP download archive alive for all our series, I think I'll be setting up a Bit Torrent tracker soon that will host all of our old releases. Now, this is where you come in. How big should the torrents be? For series like Yuuto, obviously they'll just be 1 volume until more of the series has been released, but I think downoading Ichigo 100% volume-by-volume would be a bitch. So should we package 3 volumes together? 5 volumes? Would you even use the torrents? Vote in the poll and leave comments about this, I'd be interested to know if anyone is against the idea of putting everything on Bit Torrent as opposed to HTTP.

Gonna do it right standin' in the light

Sunday 26 June 2005

Posted by CGoten

Today's chapter marks the first anniversary of D.Gray-man, at least according to Weekly Jump. But really the actual anniversary was a few weeks ago. Also, we changed the way we've been phrasing something, but I made a note about it in the chapter so if you actually care, you'll read that. Uhhhh.... Yeah... That's it for my very coherent post. Download the chapter.

I missed the last bus I'll take the next train

Wednesday 25 May 2005

Posted by CGoten

I wanted to hold this off till we actually had something to release alongside it, but I figure I'll just post now, cause the sooner I do so the sooner we'll get results, and the sooner we get results, the sooner we've got more chapters to release.

We could use a few new translators right now. We've lost a few key translators to either a busy schedule or a busy schedule consisting of playing MMORPGs all day long, so we could use a few more people to fill in. Also, with summer coming up, we have some guys with plenty more time to edit, so we could use a few more translators to speed it along.

If you've got what it takes, we could put you on pretty much any project you want. Ichigo 100%, Gintama, D.Gray-man, School Rumble, whatever you want. If you're confident enough in your Japanese and wanna help out, email me and tell me what you'd like to translate. Or you could just contact me on IRC, which is perhaps more convenient.

Lastly, I just wanna make it clear that we really only need Japanese translators. Every time we do this, we get a few Chinese translators who wanna help out, and I feel bad that I have to turn them down. >_<

Interested in translating? Email me!
