Plum has brought it to my attention
that Gintama has been licensed by Viz. I guess that means we’re dropping it,
although it’s not like progress was being made lately anyway. I hate to admit
it, but it’s undeniable that I’ve lost my interest in scanslation and pretty
much manga in general. Looking at the frequency of releases lately, I don’t
think that’s too hard to see. It took me practically a month to finish Sidooh
chapter 2, and we released that ages ago now. Since then I haven’t so much as
touched a single chapter and I think it’s pretty safe to say I don’t intend to
do so any time in the near future. I guess I’m basically announcing my
retirement from scanslation, but I really hope the group can and will go on.
We could really use new translators, ones who are genuinely
interested in translating and translating often. If you think you’re interested
and talented enough, talk to Plum or perhaps cccnnn on
IRC. If you don’t have IRC, leave a comment on this post and maybe they can
work something out with you.
I really hope that someone will step in and start getting
the group to release more often again, whether it be Plum or cccnnn or Motoko
or someone else altogether. Don’t get me wrong, we’ll definitely still have
some Ichigo 100%, Mai-HiME and Gakuen Heaven among other things to release, but
I’d really like it if we could get back to the efficiency - and more importantly,
the love for translating - that we used to have.
I guess what I’m saying is, I’m leaving the group in
everyone else’s hands and I hope they can work out something great. If you’re
interested in helping out and have a serious motivation to get work done, don’t
hesitate to talk to one of us. Maybe once I have more time and/or motivation I’ll
come back to editing, but for now I’ll just be around the IRC channel not doing much of anything. Thanks for all the support over the
past few years, and hopefully the group will thrive without me.
