I wanna be sedated

Monday 30 May 2005

Posted by CGoten

Well, the request for translators went really well. Honestly, it went a lot better than I thought it would, and now we could use more editors too. So now we're looking for a few good editors. If you either have experience editing, or would like to learn to edit, stop by #Y-Editing on irc.irchighway.net and say hello. In the past we've had people just take tests and contact me through email, but I think this is a much more logical way to go about doing things, since we require people to come on IRC eventually anyway. So make your way to #Y-Editing if you're interested. We can probably accomodate people working on most series, although don't expect to do Ichigo 100% and nothing else.

And for everyone who doesn't care about editing recruitment, here's D.Gray-man chapter 48, with a special color page by the talented Mr. StrikeFlo.

Addicted to Curry chapter 37!!

Saturday 28 May 2005

Posted by cccnnn

Who said we dropped curry...or that we release it once every three months (for the record it's only once every two and a half months).

So anyway, for no reason at all, we decide to release two days in a row. I don't remember the last time we have done this, which makes this mediocre event even more momentous.

Also, our contests are currently in the works (i.e. we kinda decided on what the prizes will be). There will be two contests, one open to everyone (except the Yanime staff...suckers...hehehe...oh wait...), and the second one only open to those who have donated to us. The reason for the second contest is that we feel that as a non-profit organization, we should return money that we don't use on our operations to the donors. Of course, the most equitable way would be to return the money as divided accordingly to the portion of what the donors donated...but that would be boring. Instead, we're using that money to buy prizes and are going to select winners based on a lottery system where the chance of winning is amount of money you have donated to us in proportion to the amount of money everyone has donated. Details are to come.

Tonight is where I catch up on the season two eps of the OC, so I have to cut this post short. Enjoy the curry.

Posted by cccnnn

Well thankfully, only Cgoten has the Collectors Edition , but I have the re-edited edition of Gakuen Heaven Volume 1 for the rest of you!!

In this re-pimped volume, you will find chapters 1 through 4 completely RE-EDITED using the beautiful book scans (hand-scanned by Plum). Anyways, long story short, you will also find Chapter 10 of Gakuen Heaven (the "never-been-seen-before-edition") - all the more incentives for you to download the pack.

Well it is Friday night and I must engage in some adult activities tonight...so I hope you enjoy this raunchy fun pack from Yanime. Although keep in mind that Parental Discretion is advised (this means you Cg).

Peezzie.

I missed the last bus I'll take the next train

I wanted to hold this off till we actually had something to release alongside it, but I figure I'll just post now, cause the sooner I do so the sooner we'll get results, and the sooner we get results, the sooner we've got more chapters to release.

We could use a few new translators right now. We've lost a few key translators to either a busy schedule or a busy schedule consisting of playing MMORPGs all day long, so we could use a few more people to fill in. Also, with summer coming up, we have some guys with plenty more time to edit, so we could use a few more translators to speed it along.

If you've got what it takes, we could put you on pretty much any project you want. Ichigo 100%, Gintama, D.Gray-man, School Rumble, whatever you want. If you're confident enough in your Japanese and wanna help out, email me and tell me what you'd like to translate. Or you could just contact me on IRC, which is perhaps more convenient.

Lastly, I just wanna make it clear that we really only need Japanese translators. Every time we do this, we get a few Chinese translators who wanna help out, and I feel bad that I have to turn them down. >_<

Interested in translating? Email me!

And someone is calling my name, from the back of the restaurant

Today is my birthday, so in an act of true benevolence, I'm giving everyone a present today. Well, not everyone, I guess, just people who read D.Gray-man. But, whatever, you get the point.

I didn't make a note about this in the chapters, so I might as well mention it here. Apparently the author got the name "Timcampy" from a line of jewelry, and the correct spelling is "Tim Campi", so we're going with that from here on out. Also worthy of noting, I'm pretty sure that's where he also got the idea for the last name "Walker".

Out again, a siren screams at half past ten

Thursday 12 May 2005

This is insanely late, firstly because Weekly Jump wasn't in at the store I go to when I went, secondly because I'm lazy and then thirdly because it sat around finished but un-Quality Checked for a few days. But, here it is. Chapter 46 is gonna be late too, cause I'm gonna be gone all weekend at Anime Central. If you're in the area and you're going to that, be aware that I could be just around the corner, waiting to... Ehh... Walk past you and not notice you.

But, uhhh... Back on track here, as a slight apology, we've thrown in a color page to this chapter. Oh, also, what I said about ch44 ending v5 was definitely way off. I think I'm gonna say that volume 5 ends at chapter 46, seeing as how both volumes 3 and 4 have had 10 chapters each.

Ooooh, we've done more than 300 chapters!

Monday 09 May 2005

Today's release is a special one. So special that I decided to forego my random music-related update titles for a somewhat relevant one. Not only does it put us over (and well past) the 300 chapters translated mark, but it's also err... A lot of chapters. And that's never a bad thing. We've got all of volumes 14 and 15 of Ichigo 100% tonight, finally catching us up to the latest volume released in Japan. Last summer we came fairly close to catching up, but fell behind again... But, we've finally done it! Volume 16 comes out in June, so look forward to that.

On a more suckier note, the download archives have died yet again. However, we have yet another site lined up, and it looks like this one can take quite a raping. So hopefully we'll have all the downloads back up within the next week or so.

Another thing we're thinking about right now is what to do about the contests we plan on having this summer. We've pretty much got all the small prizes covered, but we need to think of a big prize that people will enjoy. If you have any ideas post them in the comments. Would anyone be interested in random (surprisingly overpriced >_>) Ichigo crap like a pillow or a beach towel? Or something else? I have no idea, so tell me. For small prizes we're looking into random merchendise from a lot of the series we translate. But if you can think of other stuff, then by all means mention it in the comments.

Anyway, without further ado, Ichigo volumes 14-15, chapters 117-134.

You're face to face with the man who sold the world

Friday 06 May 2005

So.... Does anyone happen to remember a series called Yuuto? Think back a month or so. Well, it's finally back. God, I'm lazy. But, here it is finally. This chapter finishes off volume 1. It's rather "phell", if I say so myself. You see, this is a word recently invented by me and some of my associates. For instance, let's say you would like to compliment a rather respectable-looking gentleman on the very elegant pair of shoes he is wearing. You'd say something like, "Damn son, those kicks is phell." It's brilliant. Use it and impress your peers.

Also, Yanime Correspondent (aka "editor" that never edits) Waya475 was recently in Washington DC, where he was up to all sorts of mischeif. Aside from giving the finger to the FCC building and the White House (among other locales) he showed his disapproval of a Fox News van, and perhaps even more patriotic, rode in a bus with "Lamers" written on the side. Here's a few choice (and non-finger-giving) highlights I stupidly agreed to showcase here.

It's just a minor thing and I'm a minor king

Thursday 05 May 2005

Hmmm... Wow, it's been so long since we've done anything. Too long. Hopefully things will really pick up once summer starts... I think we plan on having a contest or two coming up soon. That'll probably be something that happens this summer too. Hmmm.... I think summer should prove to be interesting. But, what do we have for you right now!? Well, first off, Motoko put up lots and lots more stuff in the download archive, found in the "Projects" section. I think just about everything we've ever translated can be found there now. So if you're a bandwidth rapist, make your way over there and see what you can do.

We also have some Gintama today. I could have just thrown in the black and white scans from the book, but I said, "Nay! I'll be having none of that! We must include the color scans from Weekly Jump!" So we did. This chapter concerns rock, paper, scissors, which Ayume (bless her ignorant soul) translated as "rock, scissors, paper". WHAT!? Paper comes before scissors! I nearly had a heart attack upon reading such filth unfit for both women and children alike! Everyone knows it's called "rock, paper, scissors", right? Whoever heard of such a thing as "rock, scissors, paper"? Uhg... It makes me sick. I've lost faith in the world.
